From Newlyweds to Homeowners: How the Holcombs Are Building Life Together at Lyric at RidgeGate

As busy professionals, when Cameron and Jessica Holcomb set out to find their first home together, they were looking for more than just a place to live—they wanted ease, connection, and room to grow. They found it all in Lyric at RidgeGate™, where Shea Homes®’ Tribute Collection offers the perfect blend of style and simplicity. They welcomed us into their thoughtfully designed space and shared what makes Lyric at RidgeGate their perfect address.

You’re not only new homeowners, you’re also newlyweds, correct?

Jessica: We are. We got engaged right here in front of the house when it was under construction. We would come take progress photos throughout the process, then one day Cameron dropped to a knee in our photo.

Cameron: We got married at the Broadmoor this last April. It was Masters weekend, so we were watching golf whenever we weren’t doing something wedding related. When my groomsmen and I had a chance to play, I ended up winning. They surprised me with a green jacket similar to the one given to the champion of the Masters. It wasn’t rigged, I swear.

Tell us about your fun backyard!

Jessica: We just finished our backyard and installed a turf putting green with a couple of holes. Each hole has a custom-designed flag with our logo.

I’m an event planner so I knew I wanted to have a logo that commemorated our marriage. We designed our logo to be a “J” and a “C” that turns into an “H” for Holcomb. It looks like it’s being drawn by the contrails of a plane because Cameron is a pilot for United.

We’re hosting a party soon, and I can’t wait to use our putting green with our friends.

What originally put RidgeGate onto your radar?

Cameron: A good friend of mine who lives nearby nudged us to look in the area. He knew me well enough to realize I wasn’t a “downtown guy.” I love a quieter lifestyle and space to breathe. I bike, and I’m a motorcycle guy too, so the access to trails and open space is huge for me.

Jessica: I actually grew up in Castle Pines and always hoped to come back. My parents still live there—in the house I grew up in—so we’re just five minutes away from them now. I think for the two of us, RidgeGate is the perfect middle ground. It’s not too far from things, but still peaceful. Plus, we are right next to open space. We’re excited for the East/West Regional Trail extension that will connect the Lyric™ community to the Bluffs.

What was it about your specific home in Shea’s Tribute Collection that sold you?

Cameron: Honestly? The garage space. We looked at a lot of places, and this one had the combo we needed—garage plus covered carport. My truck doesn’t fit in most garages, so having it covered was a win.

Jessica: And the dining room! We loved a lot of things about Shea’s Tribute Collection, but we picked this model because it fit our massive dining table. This was my parents’ conference table—they’re interior designers and architects. I begged them to keep it for me, and now it’s our centerpiece.

What’s the vibe like in your part of RidgeGate?

Jessica: It’s the best of both worlds. We’re in a quieter pocket, but we will be close enough to walk to future shops, the grocery store, and even an amphitheater. We also have our favorite neighborhood spots, like Sierra. We love their patio.

Cameron: It’s suburban living with some very intentional city perks—like walkability and entertainment. It’s like RidgeGate cherry-picked the best parts of urban life.

What are your future plans for the home?

Jessica: Well, we do have four bedrooms… and while there’s no timeline yet, we would love to grow our family. A new elementary school is being built right by us. I used to walk to elementary school every day when I lived in Castle Pines and I loved it. I would love to be able to give the same experience to our future children.

What’s the commute like to DIA, Cameron?

Cameron: It’s actually really convenient. I can take I-25 to 225 with no tolls, or if traffic is terrible, I take E-470. I can leave at the same time no matter what. Parker is kind of a hub for pilots, and now I’m starting to see them move to Lone Tree as well. I guess we’re looking for the same thing: space and convenience.

What is your favorite feature in your home—besides the table and garage?

Jessica: I love the first-floor storage area. We opted not to make it an ADU (accessory dwelling unit). It’s unfinished but super functional—a space for storage, a workshop, even some video gaming.

Cameron: It’s my gear cave. Hunting gear, tools, games—you name it. That space was a game-changer.

What community features are you excited about?

Cameron: Being able to walk to an amphitheater with concerts and events is not something you get in most suburban neighborhoods.

Jessica: We can’t wait for Lyric’s amenity center to open. We’re just two blocks away. It will have a pool, fitness center, and coffee house/restaurant. I’m going to get my pool cart and camp out. I’m that girl that loves to bring a book and a cooler to the pool and relax there all day.
