Jack wasn’t looking to slow down. After years in a senior living apartment across town,
he wanted a home that could keep up with him, and Lyric at RidgeGate™ delivered.
Now settled into the Summer floorplan at Lokal Homes’ Condo Collection, Jack has built
a routine that looks a lot less like retirement and more like a full calendar: breakfast at
The Groove™, a bike ride along the community trails, and fitness classes he says beat
any gym he’s ever paid for. Between the new friendships made and the passport stamps
earned, Jack has redefined what retirement looks like.
Q&A:
When did you move to Lyric?
I closed on my new home on January 23, 2026.
Where were you living before?
I was renting an apartment. It was a senior living apartment called Affinity.
What first drew you to Lyric?
I saw an advertisement and immediately called my realtor, and we went out together to
look. The salesperson encouraged me to make an offer and put down a deposit. I loved
everything about the community, and finding the right builder and the right home made
my decision that much easier. The unit has a large kitchen and spacious pantry, a
fabulous layout, 9′ ceilings, quality materials, and huge windows. I have a great view
and I love it.
Now that you’re retired, what does a typical day look like for you?
I go to The Groove™ restaurant for breakfast several days a week. I also cycle regularly
and make good use of the fitness and movement studios.
What has become your favorite way to spend time at Lyric?
I really like the fitness room, the Restore class and “Butts and Guts,” and I think the
instruction is just as good as what you’d get paying at a gym.
What’s it like having The Groove so close to home?
The food at The Groove is delicious. I’d say great quality for a great price. I take classes
at the fitness center on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and they have the best Technogym
equipment. The people who work at The Groove are wonderful, too. It’s all been
fantastic. When they advertised that everything is here at Lyric™, they were right. You
really never have to leave the community.
What’s it been like getting to know your neighbors?
There’s a lot of young people and some older people, it’s a good mix. People wave and
are friendly.
What’s surprised you most about retirement life here?
I’m just as busy as I was when I was working! I wouldn’t call it retirement. I travel to Italy
twice a year. If I have to go to the airport, I get on the light rail and go.
Anything else you’d like to share about your Lyric experience?
This is the best time to buy! They’ve given a lot of attention to detail, the landscaping
and everything, more than I expected. Lokal has been very flexible with everything in
the purchase of this property. I have no maintenance, I can leave anytime I want, and
the HOA takes care of everything I need.
